The restructuring of Rangers B team has come as a bit of a surprise and while the son reported it as being scrapped, it is simply a case of his priorities changing.

The B teams function was simply to give youth players a chance a decent level football albeities but in many ways it’s put important function was to give injured senior players vital minutes.

If not for the B team Danilo and Hagi would have struggled to recover both match fitness and injury problems because players of that level playing with pure youth isn’t exactly inspiring. Ask Todd Cantwell.

It appears that rangers wish to restructure the team to instead loan players out at a greater level  — technical director Nils Koppen was a back opponent of the B team considering it a very flawed system.

Backed by CEO, Patrick Stewart and Rangers manager Philippe Clement Rangers technical director has more or less dumped the B team in favour of the new loan system.

It appears that there will still be a kind of B team, but exactly how that is going to operate is anybody’s guess.

We do think that this move is a fraction shortsighted because with the Rangers injury problems it was a great way for senior players to get vital minutes on return from various setbacks.

That said some people do seem to support this move and we will see in time if it works out.
