Nottingham Forest vs Arsenal team news

Nottingham Forest are virtually at full strength for this midweek clash as they await the return of just one player.

Back-up goalkeeper Carlos Miguel suffered an injury in their FA Cup win over Exeter City earlier this month but his return date is currently unknown.

Meanwhile, Arsenal’s attacking injury woes run deep, as Mikel Arteta’s side could be seven men short for their trip to the Midlands.

Once again, the visitors will have to make do without their star man, Bukayo Saka, as the England international is still recovering from his long-term hamstring injury.

Two more forwards dealing with major injuries are Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz, who will both be unavailable for the rest of the season. Gabriel Martinelli is also out.

Myles Lewis-Skelly is suspended after he was sent off for the denial of an obvious goal-scoring opportunity in Arsenal’s 1-0 defeat by West Ham United on the weekend.

Also absent from the Gunners’ defence is Takehiro Tomiyasu, who has suffered a setback in his return from injury and now isn’t expected back until the end of the year.

Who will get the goals for Arsenal?

With a plethora of injuries in their forward line, fans are all wondering the same thing: “Who is going to score for Arsenal, if anyone at all?”

The Gunners have just three fit attackers in their first-team squad: Leandro Trossard, Raheem Sterling and Ethan Nwaneri.

Under-21s star Nathan Butler-Oyedeji made the bench against West Ham but can hardly be considered a trusted weapon in their attacking arsenal.

Of all available players, Trossard and Merino lead the Premier League scoring chart for Arteta’s side, with four each.

Behind them are Thomas Partey, Nwaneri and Gabriel with three. Outside of their notoriously tricky set-pieces, Arsenal do not seem to have a player who can go out there and forge a goal from nothing.

They travel to face a Forest side who have conceded just 33 goals in the league this season — the fourth-fewest of any side. With their attacking issues, Arsenal are up against the odds to break the defences of Nuno Espirito Santo’s side on Wednesday.
