Bild reports that Borussia Dortmund head coach Nuri Şahin’s job at the club is safe for the time being, despite their 4-2 loss to Holstein Kiel on Tuesday evening.
Even if Dortmund lose to Frankfurt on Friday night, Şahin will still be in charge for their game against Bologna in the Champions League next week.
The reason for this is due to the tight schedule, however, if results don’t improve the former midfielder will likely be dismissed.
If Şahin’s tenure as manager fails, the pressure and criticism will then turn onto the Dortmund hierarchy as their poor decision-making in recent years comes to light and they will be unable to handle the pressure. It is implied that the power structure at Dortmund is an issue, not just in the dressing room but at the top as well. The impression is given that the people in charge are working against one another not with each other.
When there is success they all try to take the praise, but when there is failure they blame one another.
Dortmund have yet to begin their search for a potential replacement for Şahin but Erik ten Hag has been spotted at the Signal Iduna Park recently, while Urs Fischer and Roger Schmidt have also been mentioned.
