Atalanta have announced the appointment of former Manchester United chief John Murtough as their new Director of Global Development.
The reigning Europa League holders confirmed the news this afternoon, just days after Murtough stepped down at Old Trafford.
He had been at Manchester United for almost 11 years in a variety of roles, most recently as Football Director of the Premier League club.

The arrival of the 54-year-old Englishman as Director of Global Development signals another important shift for La Dea towards making themselves a truly international brand.
He will work in co-ordination with Director of Sport Tony D’Amico, joining the Percassi family and co-owner Stephen Pagliuca in developing Atalanta globally.
Murtough’s other jobs in England had been with Everton, Fulham, Coventry City and the Premier League itself.
While the Bergamo side were for decades content just to hover between Serie A and B, the club has truly surged in the last nine years under coach Gian Piero Gasperini.
It culminated in a series of Champions League participations and victory in the Europa League in 2024.
