La Liga giants Barcelona have on Monday announced a double personnel blow in manager Hansi Flick’s squad.
This comes amid confirmation that both Marc Casadó and Iñigo Martínez are set for incoming spells on the sidelines.
Both midfielder Casadó and defender Iñigo featured from the off on Sunday night, as Barcelona made the trip to Spain’s capital for a crunch La Liga showdown with Atlético Madrid.
And though the pair played their parts in an eventual comeback triumph for the Blaugrana, their respective efforts came at a cost.
As per a statement across Barca’s official website and social media platforms:
‘Tests this morning revealed that first-team player M. Casadó has a ligament injury in his right knee. He will undergo further testing to determine the full extent of the injury and subsequent treatment.’
In a 2nd announcement released a short time later, the Catalans then confirmed:
‘Tests this morning confirmed that first-team player I. Martínez has lateral meniscus inflammation in his right knee. He will be treated in Barcelona under the supervision of the Club’s medical staff.’
Both Casadó and Iñigo, in turn, have been forced to withdraw from the Spanish national team squad for La Roja’s upcoming Nations League double header against The Netherlands.
