Como have officially signed Maxence Caqueret from Olympique Lyonnais in a deal believed to be worth circa €17m.
The former France Under-21 international midfielder underwent his medical on Saturday and this afternoon put pen to paper on the contract, which will run for four and a half years.
The cost of the operation is expected to be €15m plus another €2m in performance-related bonuses, according to reports in both Italy and France.
However, there are reports that the contract includes a release clause at a reduced fee if Como are relegated from Serie A at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.
“I’m very, very happy to have joined this club, which has a great project,” Caqueret told the official Como website.
“I feel we have everything we need to move forward and make progress. So, I’m really pleased to be here in this beautiful city.
“This is the first time I’ve left my old club, Lyon, so it’s a big step for me. It’s something new, but I’m ready for it. I’m excited and can’t wait to start this new adventure.
“I had the chance to speak with the coach, Fàbregas. He convinced me straight away and explained the project very well. Knowing his incredible career as a midfielder also played a big role in my decision.
“First of all, thank you fans for your support. I’ve seen how many of you were excited about my arrival, and I really appreciate it. I can’t wait to meet you all and work together to win lots of matches for the club.”

Caqueret turns 25 next month and is a product of the Lyon youth academy, making 14 competitive appearances so far this season.
The squad, coached by Cesc Fabregas and owned by Indonesian magnate Robert Hartono, is packed with talent and working hard to bring in reinforcements in January too.
They already snapped up goalkeeper Jean Butez from Royal Antwerp and Assane Diao from Real Betis, who both made their debuts in the 1-1 draw away to Lazio on Friday evening.
