Bayern Munich have announced that Jamal Musiala has extended his contract at the club until 2030, signing one of the most lucrative contract extensions in Bayern Munich’s history.

On extending his contract at Bayern, Musiala said:

Bild reports that Musiala will receive a pay rise, which according to previous reports, makes him one of Bayern’s biggest earners, in line with the likes of Harry Kane. He will also receive a signing-on fee which is less than the €22m that Alphonso Davies earned from his contract extension.

The biggest talking point of Musiala’s contract extension was the inclusion of a release clause. Sky Germany reports that Musiala does have a release clause that is active from this summer until the summer of 2029 which is worth €175m. In the final year of Musiala’s contract, the clause then reduces to €100m.

The extension of Musiala’s contract was always going to be crucial for Bayern. He is and will be, their most important player not only this season but in the future as well. One would expect that Bayern will look to build the team around Musiala to make sure that the release clause that was included in this new contract will never need to be activated.

This season, Musiala has 15 goals and five assists in 30 games in all competitions. This campaign has also shown how important the 21-year-old is to Bayern as he has singlehandedly won them games at points.
