Southampton FC have officially announced the arrival of Joachim Kayi Sanda (18) from Valenciennes FC. The young centre-back who has captained France at the U18 and U19 age brackets is considered to be one of the brightest talents of his generation.

Kayi Sanda became an important part of VAFC’s squad last season and made appearances in most of the club’s journey to the Coupe de France semi-final. However, he did not feature in the 3-0 defeat to Olympique Lyonnais.

Last season ended in disappointment for VAFC who finished bottom of the table in Ligue 2 and were relegated to the Championnat National. However, Kayi Sanda continued on his progress and had been an almost ever-present fixture in the squad.

He now leaves his formative club for their sister team Southampton. It’s not yet known whether he will feature for the Premier League side this season or if they will decide to allow him to develop at a different level.
