OGC Nice are contending with a significant injury crisis as they welcome Rangers in the UEFA Europa League this evening. The season so far has been marred by recurrent injuries for Nice and the situation has worsened yet again ahead of the match against Rangers.
As well as missing Moïse Bombito and Sofiane Diop to suspension, the likes of Ali Abdi, Jonathan Clauss, Antoine Mendy, Morgan Sanson, Terem Moffi, and Victor Orakpo all missed the win over RC Strasbourg Alsace on Sunday. None of the aforementioned absentees will make their return this evening.
The situation has even worsened for Nice with Franck Haise revealing that he has only 13 or 14 professional players at his disposal against Rangers. Dante and Jérémie Boga missed training on Tuesday and neither is expected to be fit enough to start. Evann Guessand, meanwhile, is struggling with a hamstring injury and is set to miss out on the matchday squad entirely.
After the draw against FC Twente earlier this month, Haise said that Nice needed three wins in their last four games. It is an uphill task for Le Gym to secure qualification for the next stage of the Europa League, a task made no easier by these high-profile absentees.
