I fully support Adam Idah, but he’s got to start justifying his huge fee. I’m confident he will do just that. The Irishman wasn’t exactly welcomed with open arms when he joined the club on loan back in January.
Struggling for game time with Norwich City, the Irish international wasn’t exactly seen as the answer to our striking dilemma.
That soon changed after he played a major part in securing the double last season. The majority of his goals were vital to us winning the title, and he of course grabbed the winner in the Scottish Cup Final against the Rangers.
That made Adam a popular figure among the Celtic supporters and they urged the club to bring him back to Glasgow permanently.
After many failed bids the club sanctioned what was believed to be around £9 million for the Irish internationals signature. That was a big outlay for a player who most seen as merely a ‘back up’ but it signaled the club’s intent to hand Brendan Rodgers the quality he craved.
It would be fair to say that Adam hasn’t lived up to that big outlay yet. He’s scored a few goals mainly from the bench, but when he’s started he’s not looked like a £9 million player by any stretch.
It’s vital that Adam continues to work hard and the goals will come as he can continue to justify his huge price tag. That’s not a criticism, that’s just a fact, and I for one am pretty confident he will do just that.
