Wolverhampton Wanderers forward and reported Manchester United target Matheus Cunha has added fuel to the ongoing speculation about his future after sharing a cryptic message on social media, hinting he could be available in the upcoming transfer window.
United are expected to bolster their attacking department this summer and Cunha is believed to be on their list.
The Brazilian has been in fine form this season, notching an impressive 15 goals in 29 games across all competitions, and he is all but certain to move on from Molineux despite signing a new contract in February.
A recent report covered by The Peoples Person revealed that United see Cunha as a strong fit for one of the No. 10 roles in Ruben Amorim’s favoured 3-4-3 formation. Cunha is well-acquainted with the position, regularly featuring there for Wolves under manager Vitor Pereira.
It was subsequently relayed that Old Trafford is Cunha’s preferred transfer destination even as he continues to be linked with other Premier League teams, including Newcastle, Arsenal and Nottingham Forest.
Amidst uncertainty over his future, the 25-year-old took to social media and shared a cryptic black and white picture of himself in a Wolves tracksuit top.
The photo bore the message, “Time to be happy. I will follow my dreams, not yours. So stay cool.”

The post was only up for a few minutes but eagle-eyed fans were quick to take a screenshot and share it on social media.
Unsurprisingly, the post didn’t go down well with Wolves fans, who heavily criticised the United target for strongly implying he is on his way out of the club.
Cunha wasn’t ready to take the criticism lying down and especially responded to a fan account, “Do you know what you want? For people to not like me here, unfortunately I’m going to the field to solve the problem of your favourite club. I’m not here looking for alternatives to be someone important.”
“Fans root for their own, they don’t create misfortunes all the time.”
The account, Talking Wolves, replied, “Completely false. You would have seen us praising you and supporting you from day one. We’re reporting the news and what’s happening. Stop blaming your personal mistakes on us.”
Cunha added, “You want to understand everything I do.”

Cunha is poised to return from a four-match suspension, handed down for misconduct after he received a red card during Wolves’ FA Cup loss to Bournemouth last month.
Meanwhile, United are back in action on Sunday when they go away to St James’ Park to take on Newcastle. Kick-off is at 16:30 BST.
