Power Rankings are back with plenty of change in our latest instalment.
Here are the 10 sides in our updated Power Rankings table.
New entrants, Fenerbahce break into our Power Rankings table for the first time this season. Amid a period in which off-the-pitch controversy has surrounded the side, the Turkish team are flying.
Unbeaten in 15 games in all competitions, Fenerbahce have fought their way back into the Süper Lig title race and sealed progress in the domestic cup and Europe.
Napoli take a tumble in our table after letting their lead in Serie A slip.
Antonio Conte’s side lost 2-1 at Como, as Cesc Fabregas got one over his old Chelsea manager. Things are still tight at the top, but Inter have replaced Napoli at the summit.
Bayer Leverkusen returned to winning ways with a comfortable 2-0 success at Holstein Kiel last weekend.
Goals from Patrik Shick and Amine Adli sealed success for Leverkusen, setting them up for a huge week. At the weekend, it’s third-placed Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga before a blockbuster Champions League showdown with Bayern Munich on March 5th.
Inter Milan are back on top in Italy, after bouncing back from their setback against Juventus in The Derby d’Italia with two important wins.
Lautaro Martinez scored the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win over Genoa to take the champions top of the table, before Simone Inzaghi saw off former side Lazio in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals. Marko Arnautovic’s thunderbastard was the highlight moment, as Inter’s treble dream remained live and well at the San Siro.
It’s a top-of-the-table clash with Napoli up next.
La Liga’s title race could go down to the wire and it’s as you were at the top.
Just a point separates the top three, with Atletico Madrid retaining pace with Barcelona and Real Madrid at the weekend. Diego Simeone’s side saw off Valencia 3-0 at The Mestalla with Julian Alvarez on target twice.
Alvarez then opened the scoring in a Copa del Rey classic against Barcelona in midweek. The Argentine scored after 50 seconds as Atletico led 2-0 inside six minutes, before trailing 4-2, and eventually fighting back to level. It was an astonishing game between the Spanish superpowers with eight goals evenly shared. The stage is set perfectly for the return.
Bayern Munich issued a statement this weekend and are looking increasingly likely to reclaim their throne in Germany.
Eintracht Frankfurt sit third in the Bundesliga and were predicted to be awkward opponents, only for Bayern to run riot and claim a 4-0 win at the Allianz Arena. Vincent Kompany’s side are eight points clear and cruising towards the title.
Barcelona retained their place as La Liga leaders after beating Las Palmas 2-0 in Gran Canaria. Dani Olmo and Ferran Torres got the goals to ensure Barcelona lead a gripping title race.
That result was followed by the aforementioned barnstormer with Atletico Madrid, where the best and worst of Hansi Flick’s side was on show.
A positive week for Real Madrid despite their slip in the Power Rankings table.
Luka Modric proved class is indeed permanent with a spectacular strike against Girona, opening the scoring as the champions claimed a 2-0 win at the Bernabeu.
Despite the absence of Kylian Mbappe, the Spaniards edged out Real Sociedad in the first leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final. Mbappe’s replacement, Endrick, got the goal in a 1-0 win.
Liverpool climb after a week in which their Premier League title dream got a huge step closer.
Arne Slot’s side took advantage of successive dropped points for Arsenal to extend their advantage to 13 points with consecutive wins. The first was a statement after a 2-0 win at Manchester City, as the champions-elect controlled proceedings against the holders.
On Wednesday, the Reds saw off top-four hopefuls Newcastle in similarly comfortable fashion. They’ve been the best side in England this season and it hasn’t been particularly close. A record-equalling 20th title awaits.
Paris Saint-Germain are unstoppable right now domestically.
The Ligue 1 champions won 3-2 at Lyon in an entertaining clash at the weekend, before dismantling fourth-tier Stade Briochin in the French Cup quarter-finals on Wednesday. Goncalo Ramos sent a reminder to Luis Enrique that genuine centre-forwards can still thrive, with a clinical hat-trick in the rout.
Lille await at the weekend before a seismic showdown in the Champions League with Liverpool next week.
It is not a clash to be missed.
