Jake Clarke-Salter and Karamoko Dembele could be sold on for big profits by QPR in the future.

Queens Park Rangers have had a mixed start to Marti Cifuentes’ first full season in charge, with the club hoping for a successful era under the Spaniard.

After inheriting a side struggling in the relegation zone, Cifuentes did a brilliant job as the side survived in the Championship last season, and the R’s enjoyed a productive summer window as he made his own mark on the squad.

Of course, there are areas that the boss will still want to strengthen, but the reality is that QPR aren’t in a position to splash the cash like some of their rivals at this level.

QPR’s player trading model will need to work

Therefore, the reality is that sales will be needed over the coming windows to raise funds to bring in new recruits.

Whilst that’s not ideal, the likes of Brentford and Brighton have shown that you can be successful with a bold player trading model, and it’s something QPR will surely look to replicate.

So, there could be some high-profile departures, and here we look at two players who could fetch significant fees…

Jake Clarke-Salter

Cifuentes’ good work has been built on a solid defence, and Clarke-Salter has been key to that, with his partnership alongside Steve Cook having been very impressive.

The former Chelsea man was on the radar of Premier League clubs in the summer, but he has remained with the Londoners for now.

At 27, Clarke-Salter is at his peak, so top-flight clubs may be ready to make the move, knowing he should be capable of making an instant impact.

Part of the appeal of the former England U21 international is that not only is he a strong defender when it comes to blocking, tackling and winning headers, but he is also very good on the ball. Plus, as a left-footer, he brings a balance to the team, and we know that left-sided centre-backs can be difficult to find.

With his deal at QPR expiring in the summer of 2026, the next two windows would be the last chance for them to get a big sum for Clarke-Salter unless he signs an extension, so a move could suit all parties.

Karamoko Dembele

Firstly, it should be said that technically Dembele is still not a QPR player permanently, as he is only on loan from Brest, but the R’s do have the option to buy the attacker for around £1.4m.

Even though Dembele is only a matter of games into his QPR career, it already seems as though that could be a bargain.

The former Celtic youngster has brought quality to the side with his dribbling ability, and three assists in the opening five games shows he is delivering where it matters in the final third.

At 21, he is a very exciting talent, and QPR will hope he can star in the hoops for the years to come.
