Inter Primavera picked up a big win over Fiorentina to momentarily join Roma at the top of the table. At the Konami Youth Development Centre, the Nerazzurri won 2-1 thanks to a goal from Mosconi and Topalovic’s penalty in the 91st minute and overtook the Viola in the table to sit on 58 points. Now, Zanchetta’s men will await the result of the Giallorossi who face Cremonese on Monday.
Inter started strong and had the first chance in the 7th minute: an error from Vannucchi gave De Pieri the ball who went one-on-one with the Viola keeper but his shot was kept out. Fiorentina responded with Rubino who took advantage of a mistake from Zamarian and almost took the opposition ahead, hitting the bar. In the 31st minute, Berenbruch tried a shot from far out but it took a deflection in the box and went just wide. At the end of the first half, the two goalkeepers took the main stage: Zamarian did well on a powerful shot from Caprini and in the 44th minute, Lavelli got a shot away but the Viola keeper was there waiting.
Inter started the second half with determination: De Pieri tried a volley from a distance but it went high. 10 minutes late, Berenbruch was blocked from the edge of the box by Vannuchhi. Not long after, Caprini was dangerous but Zamarian was there once again. The Nerazzurri took the lead in the 63rd minute: De Pieri to Berenbruch who put it into the middle for Mosconi, sending it home to make it 1-0 for Inter. Fiorentina went close to an equaliser three minutes later through Harder, deflected by Re Cecconi who risked an own goal. In the 86th minute, the Viola went level through Rubino who unleashed an unstoppable shot past Zamarian from a distance. Just when it seemed like it would end in a draw, drama ensued: in the 91st minute, the referee handed Inter a penalty for a foul on Konan in the box. Topalovic stepped up to the spot and beat Vannucchi to gift the Nerazzurri an important win.
