Rangers and Glasgow City went back above Thursday winners Celtic in the early stages of the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League title race.

Celtic were 4-2 winners at  Montrose on Thursday with a Saoirse Noonan hat-trick and single from Maria McAneny, Alma Codegoni and Louise Brown each pulling a goal back. The Hoops played Ukrainian side Vorskla Poltava on Saturday, winning the UWCL 2nd Qualifying Round 1st Leg tie with Murphy Agnew’s fifth-minute goal.

Brogan Hay and Rio Hardy found the net for Rangers at Hearts, to lead the table on goal-difference from Glasgow City.

Emily Whelan gave Glasgow City a first-minute lead over Hibernian but it was not until the last six minutes of the 90 that Sofia Määttä extended the advantage. Rammie Noel then got the third goal in stoppage time.

Spartans Olivia Chomczuk Erin Rennie and Kate Fraser netted in the 3-1 defeat of Aberdeen, whose Hannah Stewart converted a late penalty.

Motherwell’s Laura Berry scored an early penalty on the way to her four-goal haul in a 6-0 win at Queen’s Park, Partick Thistle won 4-0 at Dundee United with two goals in either half.

Boroughmuir Thistle 5-1 St Johnstone Kilmarnock 6-3 Livingston Rossvale 1-1 Ayr United Hamilton Academical 2-0 Gartcairn

Hamilton moved five points clear at the top with victory over Gartcairn, Eryn Brown and Melissa Reid on target for the Accies.

Kilmarnock’s Luci Burns scored four times as they hit Livingston 6-3 to leapfrog them into second place.

Boroughmuir rose to third with a 5-1 defeat of St Johnstone, Ayr are a point off the bottom following their 80th-minute equaliser at Rossvale.
