Rangers travel south of the border to take on Manchester United in a huge clash this evening.
It’s a Battle of Britain in the Europa League with both teams in the hunt for automatic progress to the Round of 16. Rangers are seven games unbeaten and warmed up for the trip to Old Trafford with a 5-0 win in the Scottish Cup at the weekend.
Philippe Clement’s side held Tottenham earlier in the competition and are seeking another positive result against Premier League opponents.
Manchester United come into the contest in deflated mood, after being beaten at home by Brighton at the weekend. It was a fourth defeat in their last five home games. Ruben Amorim this week claimed his players are ‘anxious’ when playing at Old Trafford – a situation Rangers will hope to capitalise on.
Tom Lawrence is ruled out of facing his former team this evening, though former Manchester United loanee Jack Butland has travelled. However, it appears unlikely the goalkeeper will replace Liam Kelly after a spell out with internal bleeding.
Dujon Sterling, Oscar Cortes, John Souttar and Neraysho Kasanwirjo all remain out injured. Mohamed Diomande also misses the trip through suspension.
Ianis Hagi, Rabbi Matondo and Clinton Nsiala are all ineligible due to registration rules, as is January recruit Rafael Fernandes.
Rangers predicted XI: Kelly; Tavernier, Propper, Balogun, Jefte; Barron, Raskin; Cerny, Bajrami, Yilmaz; Igamane
Manchester United host Rangers in the Europa League on Thursday 23rd January 2025. Kick-off at Old Trafford is 20:00 GMT.
