FC Barcelona managed to completely dismantle RCD Mallorca away from home in what was a much-needed win. Despite struggling in the first half and playing down to Mallorca’s level, La Blaugrana completely switched gears in the second half. With almost his best eleven fielded this time, Hansi Flick can be proud of his Barcelona team.

A humiliating 5-1 defeat for Mallorca meant an equally satisfying victory for the Catalans. Goals from Raphinha, Frenkie de Jong, Ferran Torres, and Pau Victor were more than enough to seal the game for La Blaugrana. A beautiful turnaround from the team in the second half overall.

Player Ratings:

Inaki Pena: 7.5

A completely solid performance from Inaki Pena that saw the Spaniard know exactly where to be at exactly each moment. He made sure to give his back-line the cover they needed while playing the high-line, and always looked composed when he had the ball.

Jules Kounde: 7.0

Much better performance from Jules Kounde, who was solid in his challenges and much less willing to make certain kinds of errors that he has made in the past recently. Also seemed to be much more comfortable with Lamine Yamal playing on his flank as well.

Pau Cubarsi: 8.5

While Pau Cubarsi did concede a yellow card early on that seemed unnecessary, he was composed enough to not let it cost him in the long-run. His defensive actions, as well as his beautiful line-breaking passes, were a joy to watch.

Inigo Martinez: 8.0

The veteran knew exactly how to handle Mallorca and even used their own tricks against them from time to time when going down after being tackled. Moreover, his execution in terms of the high-line was more or less flawless, and his defensive actions were crucial.

Alejandro Balde: 7.5

Quick in transitions and almost always in the right place out wide, Alejandro Balde had a commendable game. The Spaniard was fast, strong, and much more technically sound in this display than he has been in other recent games.

Marc Casado: 8.5

The young Spaniard did exactly what he had to when he needed to do it. Whether it required getting booked, having fouls called on him, or even if it needed his technical brilliance to create breakaway chances for Barcelona, he did it all.

Pedri: 8.0

Initially, Pedri seemed to struggle to get into the game as Barcelona lacked control of proceedings. As time went on, however, it became clear to see that Pedri’s influence in the game was more than crucial once Barça got a grip of things.

Lamine Yamal: 9.0

While he had a quiet game for much of the night, Lamine Yamal had his moments to shine. Won the crucial penalty that gave Barcelona a much-needed lead once Raphinha converted it, but should have done much better with some of the chances that came his way.

However, he made up for any possible error he made with a beautiful trivela assist later on, and another trivela pass after that which led to a fourth goal for Barça.

Dani Olmo: 7.0

Overall a rather dull game from Dani Olmo, but he had his game-changing moments as well. The pass he played to Lamine Yamal that led to the penalty being given towards Barcelona was a sensational play from Olmo himself, and it allowed La Blaugrana to construct a winning position for themselves.

Raphinha: 9.5

A brace for the Barcelona captain saw him be the player who put his team back in front once Lamine Yamal won a penalty for him. Later on, beyond just converting from the spot, he also grabbed another goal, which was a direct assist from Yamal that time. Sensational display from the Brazilian forward, who never stopped himself from giving his all to his team.

Ferran Torres: 7.5

While he definitely made some less-than-ideal decisions throughout the game and should have done much better in front of the Mallorca goal, Ferran Torres did open the scoring for the Catalan giants. Moreover, in terms of his work rate, Hansi Flick can have no complaints.

Substitutes:

Frenkie de Jong: 8.5

A game-changing substitute, he scored and assisted in the short time that he was on the field. Great change by Hansi Flick.

Pau Victor: 8.0

Scored a goal himself when De Jong’s pass reached him in the box, and also kept running to provide extra energy.
