The Leipziger Volkszeitung reports that RB Leipzig’s interest in Benfica midfielder Jan-Niklas Beste has now cooled as they look to address other areas of their squad first.

Leipzig were interested in Beste as he could not only play in an attacking role but also act as a backup to David Raum. However, Leipzig also need a replacement for the injured Benjamin Henrichs, and will now focus their attention there.

A replacement right back is proving an issue for Leipzig. Their first choice is Wolfsburg’s Ridle Baku but the Autostadt side are demanding more money than Leipzig are willing to pay for a player whose contract expires in the summer. Wolfsburg demand €3-4m while Leipzig have offered below the asking price.

If the two teams cannot agree on a deal, Leipzig will look elsewhere with sister club Red Bull Salzburg’s Amar Dedic an option as is Sevilla’s Juanlu Sanchez, reports Sky Germany.

Sanchez, an Olympic Gold medalist in the summer with Spain, is of interest to the Saxony side and there have been initial informal talks between the two parties but Leipzig continue their pursuit of Baku.
