Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham faced a concerning neck issue during the match against Getafe, which led to his substitution at half-time.
The problem, described as a neck blockage, occurred after a collision with goalkeeper David Soria.
Despite this setback, Real Madrid’s manager, Carlo Ancelotti, has confirmed that the injury is not serious and should not affect Bellingham’s availability for their upcoming fixture against Athletic Club at San Mames on Wednesday.
“Bellingham had a neck problem, he had it blocked and couldn’t continue. It’s a minor problem and I think he’ll recover in two days,” said the manager after the match as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.
Bellingham, who has been in incredible form for Real Madrid, opened the scoring in the game against Getafe by converting a penalty. His influence on the pitch continued as he also provided an assist, helping his team take control of the match in the first half.

However, following the neck problem, the England international began experiencing dizziness, which forced the team to substitute him at the break. He was replaced by Arda Guler, who stepped in to maintain Madrid’s momentum.
The match itself ended in a comfortable 2-0 victory for Real Madrid, further solidifying their position in the league. The first half saw Madrid dominate, with Bellingham playing a pivotal role in creating chances and setting the pace.
His early exit was undoubtedly a precautionary measure, with Ancelotti prioritising the player’s long-term fitness over risking further complications.
While Bellingham’s condition may have raised concerns initially, the club is optimistic about his recovery. According to Ancelotti, the neck issue is a minor one, and the player is expected to regain full fitness within a couple of days.
For now, it appears that the substitution was a cautious decision to ensure Bellingham’s well-being, allowing him the time needed to recover without aggravating the issue.
