Real Madrid’s youth academy continues to shine as three young players, Diego Aguado, Lorenzo Aguado, and Chema Andres celebrated their debuts with the first team during the club’s impressive 5-0 victory against Deportiva Minera in the Copa del Rey.
The achievement marked a significant milestone in their football careers, showcasing the remarkable talent nurtured within the academy.
For these youngsters, stepping onto the pitch for the first team was a dream turned into reality. Diego, the youngest of the trio at just 17 years old, admitted that the anticipation leading up to the match was overwhelming.
The centre-back shared how difficult it can be to sleep the night before such a pivotal moment, as thoughts about how the game might unfold fill the mind.
“You’re very nervous, you think about a lot of things, the plays you’re going to make… but in the end, you get on the pitch and the nerves gradually disappear,” he said after the game.
The trio’s joy was evident as they reflected on their journey. Each player expressed gratitude for the support they’ve received throughout their development.

Diego specifically credited Alvaro Arbeloa for his role in shaping him as a player.
“I’m very happy and I want to thank all my coaches and especially Arbeloa, without him I wouldn’t have gotten to this point.”
To commemorate this special occasion, the players have decided to preserve the memory in unique ways. Both Diego and Lorenzo plan to frame the shirts they wore during their debut, immortalising the moment as a reminder of their hard work and determination.
Meanwhile, Chema, at 19 years old, has chosen a heartfelt gesture by giving his shirt to his grandfather, who has been collecting all his jerseys since the beginning of his football journey.
“This number will be with me for the rest of my life. I’m going to give it to my grandfather who has collected all my shirts since I started playing,”
Lorenzo, a 22-year-old Real Madrid Castilla player, took a moment to reflect on the club’s youth academy. He described it as the best in the world, praising the coaching staff and trainers for their dedication to nurturing young talent.
According to him, what once seemed like a distant dream—joining the first team—gradually became attainable thanks to the unwavering support and guidance from those around him.
“When you come in you look at the first team and you see it so far away, but little by little the help you get from all the coaches and people there makes it very easy,” he noted.
