There is no doubt that Real Madrid are facing a lot of injury-related problems at the start of this 2024-25 season. The Merengues have not been able to count on Eduardo Camavinga and David Alaba since the start of the season, while other important players have also missed some games due to their physical issues.

However, it is not only the Merengues who have to face such a situation. Almost every top club in Europe is facing an increasing number of injuries due to various reasons. This is also the case for one of Real Madrid’s fiercest opponents, FC Barcelona.

The Blaugranes also have several important players unavailable due to injury, and the latest player to see his name added to this list was the goalkeeper, Marc Andre Ter Stegen, who suffered a torn patellar tendon in his right leg, and had to undergo surgery to recover from this issue.

The German goalkeeper’s injury has been the main talking point in Spanish football today, and as MARCA has reported, Ancelotti also addressed this subject as he talked to the press ahead of the match against Alaves.

The Italian tactician offered sympathy for the injured goalkeeper and asked the governing bodies to mend their ways to avoid such injuries:

“I want to express how sad I feel when such important players like Ter Stegen, one of the best goalkeepers in the world, get injured. I hope he recovers soon. For now, there’s not much we can do because, as I said, nothing will change this season, but we can reflect on it. The world of football needs to do that.”

Despite the rivalry between the two clubs, both of them can feel the pain of losing important players to such long-term injuries as Real Madrid had their own goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, miss almost the entire last season due to an ACL tear. One can only hope that Ter Stegen recovers soon to return to the pitch and continues to entertain the spectators with his amazing skills.
