In a season marred by a series of injuries at Real Madrid, Arda Guler’s struggles have been rather bizarre.

Despite the constant absence of key creative players in the team, Guler has struggled to establish himself as a first-team regular, often falling behind other players in the pecking order.

As we approach the final phase of the campaign, Guler has yet to muster 1000 minutes of football, with only six of his 16 league appearances coming as starts.

Real Madrid’s stance on Arda Guler

As Real Madrid continue to juggle with Guler’s future, a report from Rodra P states that the club still rate the Turkish international quite highly.

As a matter of fact, Real Madrid consider Guler a ‘generational talent’ and have no doubts about his attacking abilities.

However, there are doubts within the Real Madrid coaching staff over the youngster’s defensive work-rate and intensity in training.

These are two key reasons why coach Carlo Ancelotti has refrained from using Guler too often this season, although it is noted that he is showing some improvement in that aspect.

What’s in store for Guler’s future?

In light of Guler’s struggles at Real Madrid, the playmaker has been linked with a move away from Santiago Bernabeu.

Recent reports suggest that at least three top European clubs are eyeing a move for the Turkish international in the coming summer.

Guler, for his part, remains undecided about his future. But should Ancelotti continue for another season at the Bernabeu, his potential exit from the club cannot be ruled out.

That said, Real Madrid won’t let the player go easily considering his undeniable talent and immense potential. He could indeed be a prospect for the future, as far as Los Blancos are concerned.
