A member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid was just beaten out to the award for Champions League Player of the Week.

Real, of course, are fresh off another victory to remember on the continent.

After making the trip to The Etihad for a playoff showdown with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City on Tuesday, Los Blancos found themselves trailing by two goals to one inside the final five minutes.

Another trademark comeback was in store on the part of the visitors, though, Brahim Díaz’s late equaliser added to by Jude Bellingham deep into injury time to guide Real Madrid to a 3-2 victory.

Upon the dust settling in Manchester, it was Vinícius Jr. who was handed the Man of the Match prize, after being credited with a pair of assists.

As much culminated in the Brazilian being nominated for Champions League Player of the Week, too.

As alluded to above, though, Vinícius has been forced to make do with a place as runner-up in the final standings.

As per a release across UEFA’s social media platforms on Thursday, Borussia Dortmund star Serhou Guirassy has been named Player of the Week, owing to his performance en route to BVB’s 3-0 drubbing of Sporting CP.
