A sidelined member of the defensive ranks at La Liga champions Real Madrid was spotted back on the grass at the club’s training ground on Sunday.

The player in question? David Alaba.

Stopper Alaba has of course spent the last couple of weeks back on the treatment table.

This comes after the Austrian international suffered a setback in his ongoing efforts to recover full fitness, following a serious knee injury.

All told, Alaba was forced to sit out each of Real Madrid’s last five outings across all competitions.

If the latest images stemming from Spain’s capital are anything to go by, though, then the former Bayern Munich man’s return now looks a significant step closer to coming to fruition.

This comes amid confirmation that Alaba took his place back on the grass at Valdebebas on Sunday morning.

The 32-year-old could in turn be afforded a call-up to Carlo Ancelotti’s Blancos squad to face Manchester City in the Champions League this coming Wednesday.
