Real Madrid are closely monitoring the progress of Dario Essugo, who is currently on loan at Las Palmas from Sporting Lisbon, reports SPORT.
The 19-year-old midfielder has emerged as one of the most exciting young talents in La Liga this season, attracting attention from top clubs.
Since joining Las Palmas, Essugo has showcased his potential, building on the reputation he established at Sporting Lisbon, where he made history as the youngest player ever to debut for the senior team at just 16 years old.
Essugo’s contract with Sporting Lisbon runs until June 2027, and he has a release clause set at €60 million.
His impressive performances at Las Palmas, where he continues to develop, have caught the eye of several big clubs, including Barcelona, who attempted to secure a loan deal for the player last summer.

However, the move fell through as Sporting Lisbon were unwilling to let go of one of their brightest talents, particularly when Barcelona requested an option to buy the player, which the Portuguese club rejected.
Currently, Essugo is regularly representing Portugal at the U21 level, and his performances have continued to turn heads. Real Madrid are reportedly keeping a close watch on him, though there are no immediate plans to sign a midfielder.
However, with the uncertain futures of Luka Modric and Aurelien Tchouameni, Real Madrid could make a move for Essugo in the summer, should a spot in their midfield open up.
At present, the most likely scenario is that Essugo will return to Sporting Lisbon after his loan spell with Las Palmas ends. By that time, he will have gained more experience at the top level, further boosting his value and potential.
With the future of several key midfielders at Real Madrid in question, Essugo’s development in La Liga will likely play a significant role in the club’s decision-making process next summer.
