Vinicius Jr is available for the Supercopa de Espana holders despite his LaLiga red card against Valencia
Real Madrid will have Vinicius Jr available for their Spanish Super Cup semi-final clash against Mallorca tonight, but Luka Modric is out.
Vinicius Jr was sent off for the first time in his LaLiga career for a push on Valencia goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski during Madrid’s 2-1 win at the Mestalla last Friday night.
He has been handed a two-game suspension as a result, although that ban will only apply in LaLiga.
Head coach Carlo Ancelotti made a raft of changes for the 5-0 win over minnows Deportiva Minera in the Copa del Rey third round on Monday, with Vinicius Jr starting on the bench. The Brazilian has been included in the squad to travel to Saudi Arabia, where Madrid play their domestic rivals at King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah.
Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham were among those rested from the start in the Copa del Rey, with Antonio Rudiger and Thibaut Courtois having not travelled.
Madrid are expected to restore most of their big names for the clash on Thursday night, although Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao remain injured. Jesus Vallejo is also out.
David Alaba is also in the squad as he looks to make a long-awaited return from serious injury, though Modric has been ruled out through illness.
Barcelona await the winners of tonight’s second semi-final clash after goals from Gavi and Lamine Yamal saw them beat Athletic Club 2-0 on Wednesday. The final is on Sunday night.
Predicted Real Madrid XI: Courtois; Vazquez; Tchouameni, Rudiger, Mendy; Valverde, Ceballos; Rodrygo, Bellingham, Vinicius Jr; Mbappe
Doubt: Alaba
Injured: Militao, Carvajal, Vallejo, Modric (illness)
