Real Madrid star Vinícius Jr. is set to escape a prolonged ban for his red card against Valencia on Friday.

Wide-man Vinícius of course took his place front and centre in the headlines across all of Spain late last night. Unfortunately for the Brazilian international, however, as much came for altogether less than positive reasons.

En route to Real Madrid’s comeback 2-1 victory over Valencia, Vinícius was given his marching orders a little over ten minutes from time.

This came after the 24-year-old lashed out at Los Che no.1 Stole Dimitrievski, directing a push/slap into the head of the shot-stopper.

Vinícius, from here, required dragging from the field of play on the part of his teammates, amid concerning scenes for all of a Blancos persuasion.

Initial reports on Friday evening pointed towards the winger facing up to a potentially lengthy domestic suspension, spanning anywhere between four and 12 games.

As alluded to above, however, if the latest update on the situation to have surfaced this afternoon is anything to go by, then a considerably more lenient sanction in fact looks set to come the way of Vinícius.

As per a report from COPE:

‘Vinícius faces a 2-match ban, as his actions are considered violent conduct and not aggression after referee Soto Grado’s report was drawn up.’

It is also noted that the attacker will be available to play his part on Monday, in Real Madrid’s Copa del Rey meeting with Deportivo Minera.
