France’s national team coach, Didier Deschamps, announced his squad for the upcoming matches against Italy and Israel, and it has brought about a few surprises.
Among the omissions were three notable players from Real Madrid: forward Kylian Mbappe, midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, and defender Ferland Mendy. The only Real Madrid player included in the squad is young midfielder Eduardo Camavinga.
Now, a recent report from journalist Jose Luis Sanchez, shared via El Chiringuito TV, suggests that it was actually Mbappe’s decision to be left out of the squad.
According to the reporter, the forward personally informed Deschamps that he needed time to regain his peak form, which is why he opted not to be called up this time around.
Mbappe’s recent form has been a topic of growing discussion, both within Real Madrid and among fans. Playing as the main striker for Los Blancos has seemingly affected his performance, as it is not his preferred position.

The French star has typically thrived on the left wing, where he has more freedom to cut inside and exploit space, yet at Madrid, he has found himself operating centrally more often.
This tactical shift has led to frustration, as he feels limited by the reduced space to manoeuvre and the team’s ongoing struggles to create chances from midfield.
Former players and experts have weighed in, expressing concern over Mbappe’s role in the team and his evident difficulties adjusting to the central position.
It is reported that Mbappe is growing increasingly frustrated with his current role, feeling it restricts his effectiveness on the pitch.
The prospect of returning to his favoured left-wing role is complicated, however, as the club has shown a clear preference for Vinicius Jr. in that position.
Furthermore, the pressure and criticism directed at Mbappe are reportedly beginning to take a toll on him. If these issues remain unaddressed, they could lead to further discontent, potentially impacting Mbappe’s future with the club.
