Serie A title hopefuls Inter Milan reportedly plot a January bid for Udinese center-back Jaka Bijol.
According to Tuttosport via FCInter1908, the Nerazzurri could accelerate their long-standing interest in the 25-year-old this winter.
Head coach Simone Inzaghi has trusted Francesco Acerbi and Stefan de Vrij to command Inter’s defense in recent seasons.
But both players are in the autumn of their careers, with the former set to turn 37 in February.
Meanwhile, De Vrij, 32, could leave Giuseppe Meazza next summer.
Indeed, his contract runs out at the end of the season.
With Inter yet to offer him a new deal, a summer departure looks likely.
Keen to inject fresh blood into his aging backline, Inzaghi could launch an assault in January.
Inter have long been on Bijol’s trail, but their pursuit has yet to yield results.
Indeed, Udinese have been reluctant to sell their defensive mainstay.
There’s no doubt the Nerazzurri must piece together a substantial bid to get Udinese’s green light.
Bijol remains central to Kosta Runjaic’s project, while his contract at the Bluenergy Stadium expires in 2027.
Therefore, the Friulians remain in a strong bargaining position heading into the January transfer window.
