Liverpool are reportedly determined to win the race for the transfer of Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez this summer.

This comes as it also looks like Manchester United have cooled their interest in the Hungary international after looking at him in January, according to TEAMtalk.

Kerkez has shone at Bournemouth this season, establishing himself as one of the finest young full-backs in the game, and it’s no surprise to see plenty of interest in him ahead of this summer.

Still, with Man Utd signing Patrick Dorgu at left-back in January, it now seems they’ve cooled their interest in Kerkez, which could be a big opportunity for Liverpool.

TEAMtalk suggest the Merseyside giants are now eager to ensure they win the race for Kerkez, who could cost around £42million.

One imagines Kerkez could have been a fine option for United, but the arrival of Dorgu probably means they won’t spend big on another left-back anytime soon, as they have so many other areas of their squad which also need strengthening.

Liverpool, however, look like they’d really benefit from bringing in Kerkez, with the 21-year-old looking like an ideal long-term replacement for the ageing Andrew Robertson.

Robertson has remained a key player for LFC this season, but there have been some signs that he might now be past his best.

Kerkez looks more than capable of stepping into that role and becoming a key player for a big club like Liverpool, so this will be an intriguing story to watch in the weeks and months ahead.
