The midfield has been an area of scrutiny for some time at AC Milan, and the January mercato will be needed for reinforcements.
Before Paulo Fonseca arrived, Milan knew there was a serious issue with the midfield. Not only was their depth not fantastic, but the players within the midfield often could not combine to work properly.
As a result, the midfield often looked disjointed, so there was a need to invest. To the Rossoneri’s credit, they added Youssouf Fofana, and so far, the issues have been minimal. In fact, the Frenchman has already been deemed as a saviour to the squad’s problems and things are rather positive.
At least until you consider the lack of depth that still remains.
Fonseca has already shown his reluctance to move away from Tijjani Reijnders and Youssouf Fofana, and with minutes only adding up, some extra coverage is a must. For this reason, it has been stated that Milan will be active in the January mercato to add some much-needed reinforcements.
This morning, Corriere di Verona (via Milan News) suggested that the Rossoneri are looking to ‘reinforce and complete’ Fonseca’s midfield and they are considering Hellas Verona’s Reda Belahyane to help. According to the report, he is a ‘very concrete’ idea for the club, and a January move could be possible.
