According to a report from Miguel Angel Diaz in COPE (h/t RM4 Arab), Real Madrid president Florentino Perez and general director Jose Angel Sanchez had a crucial lunch meeting with head coach Carlo Ancelotti yesterday.

Interestingly, the purpose of the meeting was to gauge Ancelotti’s mood and discuss his plans for the future amid growing concerns over the team’s recent form.

Ancelotti’s future has come under intense scrutiny in recent weeks, with Real Madrid only securing one win in their last four matches, suffering two defeats and one draw.

The situation worsened after a dismal 0-3 loss to Arsenal in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie, leaving the team with a mountain to climb in the return leg.

This string of poor results has led many to question whether Real Madrid will finish the season without a major title, further increasing the pressure on the Italian manager.

Ancelotti, whose contract runs until the summer of 2026, has faced increasing speculation that he could be replaced by former player and current Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso at the end of the season.

While the 65-year-old has repeatedly stated his intention to stay and see out his contract, he has made it clear that the possibility of his tenure extending beyond this season is contingent on winning trophies.

Despite the team’s struggles this season, Ancelotti still has opportunities to lift silverware, with Real Madrid in contention in both La Liga and the Champions League.

However, there is no denying that he has struggled to find the right tactical balance, with questions about his team’s mentality and overall performance.

The meeting between Perez, Sanchez, and Ancelotti likely reflects the mounting uncertainty surrounding the manager’s position.

While he still has a chance to turn things around, the coming weeks could prove decisive in determining whether Ancelotti will remain at the helm or whether a change is on the horizon for the club.
