Inter Milan center-backs Benjamin Pavard and Francesco Acerbi could return to the fold at the tail-end of the calendar year.

According to Tuttosport via FCInterNews, the latter could regain full fitness for Inter’s last league game in 2024 against Cagliari.

The 36-year-old has been on the sidelines since sustaining a hamstring injury against Hellas Verona in late November.

Meanwhile, Pavard’s last appearance for Inter came against Napoli on November 10.

Like Acerbi, he has been out with a thigh injury, leaving Simone Inzaghi strapped for reliable defensive alternatives.

Timeline Set for Benjamin Pavard & Francesco Acerbi Recoveries

Inter’s final Serie A outing of 2024 pits them against relegation-battling Cagliari at home on December 28.

Acerbi might make the matchday squad, but Inzaghi will need to exercise more patience with Pavard.

Indeed, the French star aims to rejoin the squad for a trip to Saudi Arabia at the beginning of 2025.

The reigning Supercoppa Italiana champions will head to Riyad on January 2 to take on current Serie A leaders Atalanta.

As things stand, that’s the earliest projected date for Pavard’s return from injury.

Stefan de Vrij and Yann Bisseck have excelled in their absence, especially the former.

The Dutchman has been outstanding in recent matches.
