‘Revelation’ – Stephen McGown says one Rangers player was ‘irrepressible’ v Spurs | OneFootball

Rangers moved another step closer to the Europa League knockout stages after securing a 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur at Ibrox.

The iconic stadium produced a magical atmosphere, and the Gers responded to it with a performance worthy of high praise.

Nico Raskin played his heart out, but every single Rangers player was superb on the night.

Tottenham players were bamboozled by relentless pressing from the men in blue, and the scoreline could have easily been different had they taken their chances.

In the second half, they maintained the same tempo and scored through Hamza Igamane, who is currently in great form.

The Bears skipper, James Tavernier, produced a superb delivery from the right, and Igamane finished it off with great aplomb.

Stephen McGown, the Scottish Mail journalist, hailed him as a “revelation” and wrote that he was ‘irrepressible’ against Spurs.

He wrote (page 78): “Smelling blood, Rangers went for the kill, Forster the busier of the two keepers in a 90 minutes when they deserved the breakthrough before it came from the irrepressible Igamane, fast becoming a revelation.”

Former Rangers striker Steven Thompson also hailed Igamane’s strike as “absolutely sensational”.

Likewise, former Rangers winger Neil McCann was heavily impressed by the strike. He said – “What a ball from the captain, it’s put into an area to go and attack in the middle of the box. And what a lovely calm and composed finish.”

Cyriel Dessers came very close to securing all three points for Rangers, but Spurs goalie Fraser Forster made a brilliant save to deny him.

Igamane was taken off in the second half as he appeared to have picked up a knock.

Philippe Clement couldn’t provide a definitive answer to the injury scare, but he hopes that the 22-year-old will be fit to play against Celtic in the Premier Sports Cup final on Sunday at Hampden Park.
