Newcastle United slumped to a disappointing 2-0 home defeat against West Ham United on Monday.

The Magpies created numerous scoring chances but failed to put them away.

The defeat means Newcastle have dropped down to 10th in the Premier League, with 18 points from 12 matches.

Manager Eddie Howe will be looking to make some quality additions in the January transfer window.

To enhance their spending power, the English boss will try to move on high-earning fringe players.

Manager Miguel Almiron doesn’t look to be part of Howe’s future plans, and Newcastle could cash in on him next month.

According to Soy del Millo, River Plate are working on a ‘dream deal’ for Almiron in January.

The forward is a fan of the Argentine club, and a transfer would be appealing to him.

Almiron joined the Tyneside club for a fee of around £21 million in 2019.

He has made 216 senior appearances, with 30 goals and 12 assists to his name.

Almiron made 45 appearances across all competitions for Newcastle last term, but his fortunes have been different this season.

The 30-year-old has made only a single Premier League start, with Jacob Murphy and Anthony Gordon ahead of him in the pecking order.

Almiron has a contract with the Magpies until 2026, but a good offer could tempt them to sell him in January.
