Sky Sports News in the UK reports that Roma owner Dan Friedkin is close to completing the acquisition of Premier League side Everton.

Friedkin was already close to buying Everton in June, but after weeks of negotiations, The Friedkin Group announced they were pulling out due to concerns over Everton’s loans to other investors.

According to Sky Sports News, things have been moving in the opposite direction quite quickly over the last few days as the Roma owner is once again close to acquiring a majority stake in the Toffees.

Sky Sports News claims that the deal would involve an equity investment of between £400m to £500m, between €478m and €598m.

The news comes at a very tough moment for the Friedkins in Rome.

Daniele De Rossi’s sacking has led to a wave of protests in the capital, which wasn’t mitigated despite a 3-0 home win over the Udinese at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday.

CEO Lina Souloukou was placed under police protection and resigned hours before Sunday’s kick-off following sickening threats, while fans in Curva Sud entered the stadium after minute 30 in the first half to express their dissatisfaction with De Rossi’s dismissal.
