Red Devils midfielder facing weeks on the sidelines after his early exit from last weekend’s Manchester derby
Ruben Amorim has given a new timeline for how long it will take Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount to recover from his latest injury setback.
Mount was substituted just 14 minutes into Sunday’s 2-1 derby victory over Manchester City after sustaining a fresh muscle issue. On Wednesday, he visited a specialist about his latest problem.
The 25-year-old has had rotten luck with injuries since joining United from boyhood club Chelsea in July 2023, including hamstring, calf and pelvic problems. The Englishman has made 12 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils this season.
When asked how long Mount will be out for, Amorim replied: “Several weeks. I don’t know the exact date, but it’s going to be for long. And that’s it. It’s part of football and we continue.

“That is not my department. What I can do is to help Mase to teach him how to play our game when he is recovering, try to use that time for him to think about different things.
“With Mason Mount, we are going to help him. It’s really hard for the player to be out for so long. He’s trying really hard.”
United crashed out of the Carabao Cup on Thursday night when a 4-3 defeat at Tottenham saw Spurs reach the semi-finals at their expense.
