Arne Slot has said ‘it is a privilege to be a season ticket holder at Tottenham’ given the club’s exciting brand of football.

Liverpool travel to North London to take on Spurs in the Premier League this weekend. The Reds head into the weekend as league leaders, though Slot is anticipating a difficult test in the capital. Spurs have had an inconsistent start to the campaign but have excelled in moments.

Ange Postecoglou’s side thrashed Manchester City and Aston Villa earlier in the campaign, before beating Manchester United 4-3 in a Carabao Cup thriller in midweek. Postecoglou’s high-risk and adventurous brand of football has divided opinion but Slot believes the Spurs support should cherish the entertainment on offer.

“They are consistent in their playing style and what they want. They can be unlucky as well, what happened yesterday they dominated the game,” Slot said at his pre-match press conference.

“They always like to attack, he [Ange Postecoglou] plays always with three attackers, two attacking midfielders and his full-backs join the attack so much.

“People say ‘why do you bring the ball out from the back’ because they lost the ball and the second one the goalkeeper kicked it away.

“But I think it is a privilege to be a season ticket holder at Tottenham, to be a fan of them at the moment because they play such a great style.”

Slot provided an update on his team and said he has been pleased with the return of Harvey Elliott, Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa.

“Every time a player comes back from injury and is available it is a boost for the team because it has shown now that we need every player.

“You saw this in the Fulham game, the way Diogo [Jota] came in, the way Harvey came in and Darwin [Nunez] with an assist as well.”

On Chiesa, he added: “You see him on the pitch now he is getting stronger and he is getting better. He had to adapt for quite a long time, as expected if you miss team training sessions for so long and then you go to a league and team with the intensity so high as well.

“He is getting stronger but he is also facing a lot of competition in the right wing position.”
