Southampton is one of the clubs keen for prodigy Lennon Miller. A young midfield talent from Scotland, doesn't he remind you of a former Saints hero?
If there's one department Southampton's history has been gracefully gifted with, it is midfield. Having produced greats like Matt Le Tissier and Adam Lallana, St. Mary's stood competent with European giants in this aspect.
Sadly, scenarios are different now, as despite being stacked in the role, Saints are looking for reinforcements further. And this need has brought their attention to prodigy Lennon Miller.
The 18-year-old Scottish prodigy has been an exciting player in the Premiership, for Motherwell. Hearing this, a memory gong must have echoed if you've been a Saints fan for years.
Yes, you are correct, the teenage sensation has a very similar profile to former club hero Stuart Armstrong. In fact, some fans believe Miller is Armstrong 2.0, tailor-stitched for the Saints.
But, as they say, good things don't come easy. Aptly, Southampton faces stark competition from other clubs for Lennon Miller.
As per the Bild report(via Sport Witness), Southampton is one of the clubs alongside Celtic and Eintracht Frankfurt interested in Miller.
If this wasn't enough, the report sees the prodigy midfielder more likely to complete a move to Eintracht. Though bound with a club contract till 2026, Miller might depart to the Bundesliga this summer.
Clearly, it's a decisive moment for Southampton. Certainly, convincing Miller won't be easy, but it might not work for the Saints otherwise.
Just imagine what quality Miller might bring if Motherwell felt confident declining a Europa League side Union Saint Gilliose's offer for him.
Whatever happens, one thing is for sure, the Scottish rising star holds immense potential. Now, just the question remains, would he succeed Armstrong's legacy forward at Southampton or rewrite his own somewhere else?
