Barcelona have notably had a lot of joy since signing Raphinha from Leeds United, and it now seems they could be set to launch another raid on Elland Road.

The Catalan giants could reportedly be one option for Leeds full-back Junior Firpo as he weighs up his options for this summer.

The 28-year-old’s future looks in some doubt this summer, and it seems he’s been speaking with a few different clubs.

That’s according to journalist Graeme Bailey, who spoke to Leeds United News about Firpo’s situation, stating that he’s leaning strongly towards a move back to La Liga.

Junior Firpo wants return to Spanish football

Discussing what could happen next with Firpo at Leeds, Bailey made it pretty clear that it looks like his future lies away from the Yorkshire giants.

Barca and Real Betis could be options for the Dominican Republic international, with Bailey saying: “He’s been speaking to numerous clubs, Spain is close to his heart.

“There appears to be a preference, I do know he’s had a lot more interest in recent weeks. Which is not a surprise, given his performances. There has been some interest in England, Everton, with Angus Kinnear and Nick Hammond.

“It’s down to Firpo, I am told he inching towards Spain. Barcelona have even looked at him as a no.2, Betis are there as well.

“It does sound like he’s heading back to Spain; his people have had a lot of talks.”

Blow for Leeds as they prepare for life back in the Premier League

Leeds could really do without losing a key player like Firpo as they prepare for life back in the Premier League next season.

The Whites will no doubt be aware that all three promoted clubs went straight back down this season, and there’s a risk the same could happen to Daniel Farke’s side.

Firpo would probably rather a big move to Barcelona than a relegation scrap with LUFC, but the club surely need to keep this squad together and strengthen it as much as possible.
