Having had a really positive start to the game, where they could have scored on a couple of occasions within the first 12 minutes, Stuart Maynard's side did go ahead on 26 minutes, with striker Alassana Jatta finding the back of the net, having been found by a superb through ball.

With ten minutes of the first half remaining, Abbott had a sighter from distance well kept out - which would have made it three goals in as many games. One minute later, nice link up from the teenager with attacking midfielder Daniel Crowley lead to the latter firing off target from just outside the box.

The goal had Notts ahead until the 65th minute, where they were eventually made to pay for their squandered chances, as Walsall equalised. It looked like both teams were going to earn a share of the spoils, but the visitors managed to get their noses in front with eight minutes of normal time remaining, with that goal being enough to secure all three points in a tight encounter.

This result condemned the Magpies to their first defeat in four games - and with the incredible tightness of the current League Two table, they have slipped from second to seventh as a result of this defeat. Six points currently separate Doncaster Rovers in second, and MK Dons in eleventh.

As for Abbott himself, it was another 90 minutes in the legs. The Spurs youngster recorded; 87 touches, three shots, 1/1 ground duels won. 3/6 aerial duels won, two clearances, one blocked shot, three interceptions and a tackle. He has now played 1489 minutes of League Two football this season.

Next up for Notts is a home game against Swindon Town - the side Abbott made his debut against back at the end of August. Kick off here is 12:30 GMT, the same time Spurs will be playing at home to Newcastle United.
