Leicester City have parted ways with manager Steve Cooper after a disappointing start to the season.

Cooper struggled to deliver results consistently, leaving the Foxes just two points above the relegation zone after 12 Premier League matches.

His appointment in June followed Enzo Maresca’s departure after he had guided Leicester to promotion from the Championship.

The pressure on Cooper was immense, given Leicester’s turbulent season the last time they were in the top flight and the need to re-establish themselves at this level.

A 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur in Cooper’s first game in charge offered some promise for the future.

However, Leicester subsequently embarked on a six-game winless run in the league before recording consecutive victories over Bournemouth and Southampton in October.

Many people thought that was a turning point for Leicester, but four straight defeats across all competitions since then have forced the club to act.

Cooper becomes the Premier League’s latest managerial casualty following Erik ten Hag’s dismissal by Manchester United last month.

First-team coaches Ben Dawson, Danny Alcock and Andy Hughes will oversee training activities pending the arrival of a new manager.

Assistant manager Alan Tate and analyst Steve Rands have also left the club, and Leicester are hoping to complete their managerial search as soon as possible.

They will be looking to end the month on a winning note against Brentford on Saturday ahead of a daunting December schedule, which includes games against Newcastle United, Brighton & Hove Albion, Liverpool and Manchester City.
