Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee might be enduring the darkest hour of his young career thus far, but he still has admirers in Serie A.

The 23-year-old signed for the Red Devils last summer for circa £38 million following a spectacular campaign at Bologna which culminated in a historic qualification for the Champions League.

But while the Dutchman was the main star of the show at the Emilian club, he has been struggling for minutes and relevance since his arrival at Carrington. His Man Utd stint hit a new low on Monday night when he was cheered off by his own supporters when Ruben Amorim decided to haul him off in the middle of the first half against Newcastle.

The visibly devastated player headed straight towards the dressing room, only to return to the dugout a few minutes later and take his seat alongside his teammates to watch the rest of the match which culminated in a 0-2 defeat.

Nevertheless, this incident surely didn’t go unnoticed, especially in Italy where the striker remains highly tooted. Zirkzee has been linked with a reunion with his former Bologna coach Thiago Motta at Juventus over the past few weeks. However, the Bianconeri may not be the only Serie A giants interested in his services.

According to Fichajes.net, AC Milan are looking to pounce on the Dutchman’s struggles and offer him the opportunity to join Sergio Conceicao’s revolution at San Siro.

The Rossoneri appointed the former Porto tactician as their new head coach on Monday, coming in as a replacement for his compatriot Paulo Fonseca who registered inconsistent results since his appointment last summer.

Hence, Milan will be looking to provide Conceicao with a few quality additions, poaching players who could be available in January, including Zirzkee.

The source also mentions Federico Chiesa as another star player who could be keen to return to Italy amidst his lack of minutes at Liverpool, as well as Al-Nassr midfielder Otavio who worked under the Portuguese manager during their time together at Porto.
