Everton loanee Mason Holgate produced a brilliant performance on Wednesday night to help West Bromwich Albion win 2-0 against Coventry City in the Championship.

The Toffees defender returned to West Brom for a second loan spell in the summer window, and he has done well under Carlos Corberan.

The 28-year-old centre-back, who has made 150 appearances for Everton, has started in seven Championship games for the Baggies this season, scoring one goal.

West Brom kept a clean sheet against their derby rivals, and the Express and Star gave the Toffees loanee a 7/10 rating for his performance.

The newspaper described him as “superb” and wrote he kept his possessions very well.

They wrote: “Back in with Bartley rested and was superb. Solid, kept possession well and he gives you that ability to try and go long and switch the play, which he tried on a few occasions.”

Mason Holgate has no future at Everton

Holgate has a contract at Goodison Park until the end of the season, and he will become a free agent next summer.

Everton are unlikely to offer him a new deal at the club, and it appears that he may have already played his last game for the Toffees.

He has played for West Brom, Southampton, and Sheffield United on loans in recent years, and he is not in Sean Dyche’s plans.

Everton will need to sign a few defenders in the summer window. Michael Keane will become a free agent next summer, and he can hold talks with foreign clubs in January to reach a pre-agreement.

James Tarkowsksi is not getting any younger, while Jarrad Branthwaite is being targeted by heavyweight Premier League clubs.

Holgate has a better chance of playing regularly if he stays in the Championship, and West Brom could look to sign him permanently next summer if he performs well.
