West Ham have issued a bleak statement regarding the fitness of Niclas Fullkrug.
The German international hobbled off in our FA cup loss to Aston Villa on Friday night, with what was suspected as a ruptured hamstring.
Although not yet confirmed to be the case, it’s clear the injury is severe, especially after the club made a formal statement on the situation.
“West Ham United can confirm striker Niclas Füllkrug sustained a hamstring injury in Friday’s FA Cup third round tie against Aston Villa,” said the statement.
“The German striker will be sidelined for a number of weeks.”
The club will now be even further pressured to address the alarming striker situation at the club, with now Michail Antonio, Jarrod Bowen and Niclas Fullkrug all out with serious injuries.
It’s now likely an urgent ramp up on recruitment will occur over the coming days.
