Luton Town’s Tahith Chong is recovering well after a worrying collapse during his side’s 3-1 defeat against Plymouth Argyle at Home Park.

The 24-year-old, who previously spent six years at Manchester United, took a heavy knock to the head late in the first half, leaving him motionless on the pitch and in need of medical attention.

Chong, visibly shaken, eventually walked off the field unaided, though with a noticeable bump on his head.

Jacob Brown replaced him at half-time as Luton sought to manage his condition carefully.

Despite the alarming nature of the incident, the Dutchman’s ability to walk unaided was a relief to both supporters.

His contributions on the wing had been vital for Luton during the game’s opening stages.

With a strong reputation for his work ethic and pace, Chong’s absence was felt as Plymouth capitalised after the break.

After the match, Luton manager Rob Edwards reassured fans about Chong’s health, stating: “He’s up and about, just a bit sore but fine. We’ll need to check him for concussion, but overall, he seems okay.”

Chong, who joined Luton from Birmingham City in the summer of 2023, made 33 appearances last season and was a regular fixture in their Premier League campaign.

However, Luton’s hopes of returning to the top flight took another hit with this defeat, their fifth in seven Championship games.

Plymouth’s win was secured by a brace from Ibrahim Cissoko after Victor Moses briefly reignited hope for Luton.

Wayne Rooney’s side moved above their opponents into 13th, while Luton’s inconsistent form continues to stifle their bid for a quick return to the Premier League.

The former United youth player, who struggled to make an impact at Old Trafford, will now undergo further assessments to ensure he can swiftly return to action.
