“That was amazing” – Defender says something that will make fans love him | OneFootball

Levi Colwill – immaculately well spoken as always – has just spoken to the TV cameras after Chelsea beat Spurs 1-0 at Stamford Bridge.

He was still panting as he spoke, and admitted it had been a draining game, pointing the fans as inspirational in helping his team.

“It was a tough one out there but it meant everything to me, the boys and the fans, especially. The fans were amazing out there. they got us through that I can tell you that,” Colwill said to Sky Sports.

“It was giving the Tottenham fans stick and that was what we needed. That gave us the extra 10 minutes, the runs at the end and the boys were buzzing from it. That was amazing.

It’s rare to see the Chelsea crowd praised with such enthusiasm. He really meant it, which is great to see. There’s such a connection lacking between this group and the fans, things like this help to build it.

It’s interesting because the crowd was very quiet in the first half, with a quite, tense game not doing much to lift them.

The peak of the noise came right at the end, when the 12 minutes added on seemed to inflame them and help them see out the only spell of real Tottenham pressure, right at the death. The subs and the rising crowd got them over the line.

Speaking about his own performance Colwill showed a good attitude again, refusing compliments about his “potential.”

“Everyone always says I have a load of potential but I don’t think potential means anything, you’ve got to show it every game. This season, at times, I have at times I haven’t. I need to keep progressing and learning because I know where I can be and under this gaffer he’ll take me there I’m sure.
