Former Chelsea player and manager says that Chelsea owner Todd Boehly had no idea who he was when the pair met recently.
The news comes off the back of Chelsea getting an essential three points on Saturday afternoon by beating Everton 1-0 at home after a fantastic first half goal from striker Nicolas Jackson ending his 2025 goal draught.
It was far from an easy game for Chelsea though, and goalkeeper Robert Sanchez became the unlikely hero and was actually the reason that they could see the win out and collect all three points, making some big second half saves to deny certain goals.
Another one of Chelsea’s best players on the pitch was defender Trevoh Chalobah and really, he was a strong candidate for man of the match too. Enzo Maresca defended Chelsea’s decision to let him go on loan in the summer after then recalling him in the winter.
There’s been a lot of criticism and debates around the new ownership at Chelsea, who have come in and spent a lot of money on the squad but are yet to see it coming to fruition.
Former Blues man Ruud Gullit does not seem to like the new owners at all, after having met Boehly.

Gullit said on a recent Overlap episode as quoted on X:
“I met the Chelsea owner, Todd Boehly, Introduced myself, Hi I am Ruud Gullit, Todd said “What do you do” well I played Football, also played and coached for Chelsea, Todd said “Oh yeah, when did you play for Chelsea, what did you do for Chelsea?” He didn’t know.. Can I blame him? No but this is what it is now, they don’t know what the club is all about… the DNA is gone.
“Clubs nowadays are run more as a business than by heart, for some reason they just don’t get it. It feels as if the heart is out of the Football Club. Milan, Rome, Chelsea, Man United…”
