Chelsea take on Arsenal on Sunday in a huge London Derby and former Gunner Paul Merson has made his prediction.
The Blues head to the Emirates looking for a first win against Arsenal since 2021, and were thrashed 5-0 in north London last season.
Enzo Maresca’s men have the chance to close the gap on Arsenal to three points with a win, but Chelsea’s record in big games has been poor this season.
The Blues head into the game on the back of four wins in a row in all competitions and three consecutive clean sheets.
However, Arsenal are without a win in their last three Premier League games and with both sides missing key players through injury it feels a very even match.
Maresca has already confirmed Robert Sanchez will return in goal and he will be hoping the Spaniard doesn’t make a mistake otherwise there will be a huge backlash.

Mikel Arteta has been very complementary about Maresca in the build-up and now Merson has given his prediction ahead of the London Derby.
“What do I even say about Chelsea? They bored Leicester into submission last weekend! The way they are playing, I don’t see how they can beat Arsenal here,” he told Sportskeeda as quoted by The Chelsea Chronicle.
“Arsenal need to win this game. A defeat to Chelsea would pull the Gunners back into the race to finish in the top four.

“Chelsea are a better team when Cole Palmer is firing, but without Nicolas Jackson he has struggled. I expect Palmer to find more space to operate in during this game, but I’m not sure Chelsea have enough to trouble Arsenal, Prediction: Arsenal 2-0 Chelsea.”
A defeat would possibly see Maresca’s men drop out of the top four depending on other results and would leave a big question mark over their capability of getting results in big games.
