FC Barcelona, especially in recent seasons, have been great exploiters of the free agent market, driven more due to need rather than desire. Most of those signings have turned out to be either sporting or economic successes.

The likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, İlkay Gündoğan, Andreas Christensen, Franck Kessié, Eric Garcia, Iñigo Martínez, Marcos Alonso, and Hector Bellerin have all joined the Spanish club on Bosman moves and with the exception of the latter two, the rest have been success stories.

FC Barcelona are not entirely out of financial trouble, as the club continues to face challenges in registering Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, despite recently returning to the 1:1 rule. Given these struggles, the Catalan side may once again turn to free agents ahead of next season.

As per Fichajes, Barcelona have identified three players they are targeting for Bosman moves ahead of the 2025-26 season. The list includes Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah, Lille striker Jonathan David, and Bayern Munich superstar Joshua Kimmich.

Of the three, Jonathan Tah’s arrival appears to be the most advanced, with Barcelona seemingly close to finalizing his signing for added defensive depth. Having worked with him before, Hansi Flick is well aware of what the 28-year-old can bring to the team

Jonathan David, on the other hand, presents an intriguing option. The Canadian striker has been a consistent performer for Lille over the past few seasons, but questions remain about whether he possesses the aptitude to succeed at a club of Barcelona’s stature.

Joshua Kimmich, however, stands out as the most high-profile name among the three, boasting the most illustrious career to date. The versatile midfielder has been linked with Barcelona in the past and, like Jonathan Tah, has extensive experience playing under Hansi Flick.

Each of the three players brings unique qualities to the table, and signing any one of them on a free transfer would be a no-brainer for Barcelona. It remains to be seen whether the Catalan club can finalize deals for any of them in the weeks or months ahead.
